History
-
The recent initiative of creating a professional association working in the field of Telemedicine and eHealth in Armenia ( Georgi Chaltikyan, November 12, 2008) was inspired by conversation with visiting lecturer to Yerevan State Medical University, Professor Klaus Kayser (prominent pathologist from Charité clinic, Berlin, Germany, who is also a recognized expert in Telepathology).
-
Consultations were held with some heath care and ICT experts in the country. The idea of such undertaking was appreciated and welcomed by them, as reflecting recent changes in health care management and rapid developments in the field of Information and Communication Technologies in Armenia.
-
An initiative group (Task Force) incorporating health and ICT specialists (see Founders) was created, which developed the concept and Bylaws of the future association.
-
A non-governmental, non-profit organization named “Armenian Association of Telemedicine (AATM)” was registered with the Central Body of State Registry of Legal Entities of Republic of Armenia on December 28, 2008.
-
The first General Meeting of AATM was held on January 15, 2009, which elected the first Board of Directors of the Association.
-
AATM since then has participated in a number of working meetings and conferences (see under News & Events) that resulted in outline of the strategy of the Association and its most immediate activity planning.
-
AATM applied to the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH) (the leading worldwide association in the field, working in official relations with the World Health Organization) for National Membership status, and was admitted to ISfTeH as the National Member representative of Armenia, on April 1st, 2009.
